Amazon’s update to Rekognition comes one day after the ACLU released a new study tied to a bill under consideration in the California legislature. The ACLU says that facial recognition software?falsely matched 26 members of the California legislature with mugshots from a public database. The goal of the study was to encourage lawmakers to approve a bill that would ban facial recognition software in police-worn body cameras.

Amazon’s?worldwide headcount is also on the rise, as the chart below shows. The company actually?topped 91,000 employees at the end of the first quarter, and likely will top Microsoft in worldwide headcount this quarter, though a large percentage of that employee base works in fulfillment.

Among the 2,009 people surveyed, a total of 64 percent of the respondents suggested the promotion relies on efforts in communities and at workplaces, and around 61 percent said enhanced work in providing some guidance of garbage sorting by volunteers and social workers is needed.

Amazon’s recent 2019 sustainability report showed?that its greenhouse gas emissions rose over the previous year by 15%. Emissions did grow more slowly than net sales, which increased 22% last year from 2018, but the increase in emissions illustrates the challenge the company faces in its quest to go carbon neutral.
